Mahakaleshwar, also known as Mahakal, is a revered Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. It's one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, considered the most sacred representations of Lord Shiva. Mahakaleshwar is unique as its idol faces south, unlike other Jyotirlingas, and is known as a Dakshinamurti. The temple is deeply connected to the concept of time and death, with "Mahakal" translating to "Lord of Time".
Omkareshwar is a Hindu temple town located on an island in the Narmada River, shaped like the sacred symbol "Om", making it a significant pilgrimage site dedicated to Lord Shiva. The town is renowned for the Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga, one of the twelve most revered Jyotirlingas in India.
Day to day itinerary -
Day 01 - Indore Arrival – Ujjain (Stay in Ujjain)
• Pick up from Indore Airport.
• Drive to Ujjain (55 km / 1.5 hrs). • Visit Navgrah Shani temple, ISKCON temple. • Visit Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Darshan (Evening Bhasma Aarti if possible).
• Later sightseeing: Chintaman Ganesh Temple, Harsiddhi Temple, Ram Ghat, Bada Ganesh Temple.
• Overnight stay at Ujjain.
Day 02 - Ujjain Local (Stay in Ujjain)
• Bhartari Gufa, Gadkalika Temple, Kaalbhairav Temple.
• Mangalnath Temple, Sandipani Ashram.
• Free time for shopping in Ujjain.
• Evening Arti at Shipra Ghat.
• Overnight stay at Ujjain.
Day 03 - Ujjain – Omkareshwar (Stay in Omkareshwar)
• Drive to Omkareshwar (140 km / 3.5 hrs).
• Darshan of Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga & Mamleshwar Temple.
• Enjoy boat ride in Narmada River (optional).
• Evening Aarti at Omkareshwar. •
Overnight stay at Omkareshwar.
Day 04 - Omkareshwar – Maheshwar (Stay in Maheshwar)
• Morning drive to Maheshwar (70 km / 2 hrs).
• Visit Ahilyabai Fort, Narmada Ghat, Ek Mukhi Datta Temple, Sahastra Dhara.
• Enjoy evening Aarti on Ghat.
• Overnight stay at Maheshwar. Day 05 (12 Dec 2025): Maheshwar – Mandu (Stay in Mandu) • Drive to Mandu (65 km / 2 hrs).
• Visit Jahaz Mahal, Hindola Mahal, Roopmati Pavilion, Baz Bahadur Palace, Echo Point.
• Sunset view at Mandu.
• Overnight stay at Mandu.
Day 06 - Mandu – Indore (Stay in Indore)
• Drive back to Indore (95 km / 2.5 hrs).
• Indore sightseeing: Ranjit Hanuman Temple, Rajwada, Local Market for shopping, Kanch Mandir, Sarafa night market street food area (optional).
• Overnight stay at Indore.
Day 07 - Indore Drop
• Morning free for local shopping / leisure.
• Visit Khajrana Temple, 56 Dukaan street food area, Indore Zoo, Lalbagh Palace, Annapurna Temple, Bada Ganesh Temple, Vijasan Mata Mandir.
• Drop at Indore Airport.
